Out of Class Assignment

Lauren Mazich Out of Class Assignment I have started to create my lay out for my magazine page story and I have decided to do it on the Women's Soccer team. Many people think that athletes on campus just practice and play in games, and while that is a big part of what we do, there is a lot more to our job as Student Athletes. I feel that this topic will not only inform other students about the Women's Soccer team, but it will also educate them on various parts of the team, how we function, and some successful aspects of our program. Even though my magazine layout is not finalized I have come up with an idea which is attached below. The sizes of the pictures and placement of them might change, but throughout my story I want to make sure it captures the different aspects of the program and to have them explained in both pictures and through the text. I feel that changes could possibly be made to this lay out, but I also feel that this layout does a good job of balancing th...

Lauren Mazich Blog post #6 I used the pattern below as an inspiration for my color scheme because of tall of the different colors and patterns within the picture. This pattern has a variety of different tints and shades of different blues, greens and reds. With these three colors as the primary base of the pattern shown in the image, there can be several different shades created which can lead to a whole different color scheme pattern.  Below is my Swatch Grid and my name plates that I have used to illustrate my color scheme. Completing this task let me play around with some new tools in Indesign. I used the rectangle/square tool to create the grid and name plates themselves. To create the new tints and shades, I used the new tint tab in the swatches panel which enables you to make several various shades of your liking. I enjoyed this process because there was a lot of freedom when it came to picking your colors and creating your new shades in order to form your color sch...

Lauren Mazich Blog Post #5 Photography is becoming a big interest for many people these days as technology continues to take over our world. With this becoming a trend, it is also becoming easier to take better pictures and add filters or make edits to enhance your picture. Cameras on phones these days continue to get stronger which also helps form a good picture. Below are some shots I took using different composition elements to create a strong picture. Lines : Even though these lines in the picture are not perfectly straight, they are still eye catching and lead your eye to the center of attention in this picture which is the pot of flowers. Most of the time straight lines are commonly found in pictures which is a softer feel on the viewer's eye. However, is this picture, even though the lines are not straight, they are still present and catch the viewer's eye.  Rule of Thirds: Rule of Thirds is not a difficult element to add to a picture. All you have to do is t...

Lauren Mazich Blog Post #4 My Poster:  For my movie poster, I had a few ideas that I felt I could potentially do. After I started to play around with some of the tools on Photoshop, I decided to recreate a movie poster for Toy Story. I did this by using a variety of characters from the movie and tools in Photoshop to create a fun new look for the poster. Tools Used in the Making: I used several different tools to create my poster. First I used the quick selection tool a couple of times to move specific parts of a layer onto the main poster. This tool made it quick and easy to select parts a of layer that you wanted to incorporate and exclude parts that you did not want to include. This tool was very helpful for selecting big portions of the picture. However, to get rid of the little details, I used the clone the eraser tool on a mask to get rid of the details that could not be erased from the quick selection tool. Even though this tool was a bit more difficult to use, it ma...

Lauren Mazich Blog Post #3 What I Did: To make this meme I combined two pictures, one of the outside of Slane, and the fat girl running meme to create my new meme. This was not as difficult as it could've been, however it is not my most perfect work. First, I made the picture of Slane as my background and then the fat girl running was a new layer that I inserted into the background. To do this I used the quick selection took as best as I could to cut the fat girl running out and insert her into the background. This was more difficult than I thought it would be due to the fact that it looks perfect and then you would put it on a different layer and realize that there is white showing that you didn't realize before or you cut a piece of the body off that you didn't notice before. This process was repeated several times and even though it still isn't perfect, it was as close as I could get. After I used the quick selection tool and put it into the background, I ...

Lauren Mazich Blog Post #2 Creating My Filter: The first thing I did to create my filter was change the brightness and contrast. I made the picture brighter by changing the brightness to 50, and then to balance out the brightness, I changed the contrast to -40 which make it darker in some areas. Then I increased the vibrance and saturation. I put the vibrance at 20 and the saturation at 10 to make the colors pop, but not stick out too much. Lastly, I added a photo filter focused on the light blue color and changed the density to 20%. With these pictures containing a lot of blue, this changed the blue in portions of the picture. New Filter: Brightness/ Contrast Brightness: 50 Contrast: -40 Vibrance/Saturation Vibrance: 20 Saturation: 10 Photo Filter Color: Light Blue Density: 20% Before and After:  What I Learned: I enjoyed doing this assignment and I am learning more and more each time I use Photoshop...
